Guzheng Performer . Researcher . Lifelong Learner
Ada began her musical journey at a young age, completing Royal Conservatory of Music Grade 8 Piano and Grade 8 Theory examinations. While her early musical training was rooted in piano, she later discovered a deep passion for the guzheng while building her professional career in research. This renewed connection with music inspired a continuing journey of learning, exploration, and artistic growth that remains central to her work today.
She holds the Performance Level Certification in Guzheng from the Central Conservatory of Music of China and continues to study and develop her musicianship through performance, collaboration, and ongoing learning. Drawing inspiration from both Eastern and Western musical traditions, Ada values music not only as an art form, but also as a lifelong process of discovery, connection, and personal growth.
Ada has appeared at cultural festivals, community programs, educational initiatives, competitions, and collaborative artistic projects across Canada and beyond. She is a multi-time Gold Award recipient in music competitions and continues to seek opportunities that encourage artistic growth, cultural exchange, and meaningful community engagement through music.
Beyond performance, Ada maintains a strong interest in the relationship between music, cognition, emotion, and human connection. Her background in research and healthcare continues to shape her curiosity about how music influences individuals and communities.
At the heart of Da21Strings Co-Lab is a simple belief: learning never ends. Ada welcomes opportunities to learn from and collaborate with musicians, educators, researchers, composers, and artists from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Through these exchanges, she hopes to contribute to a growing conversation that bridges tradition, creativity, and community through music.

Through Da21Strings Co-Lab, Ada engages in performance, education, cultural exchange, and interdisciplinary collaboration that explores the evolving role of the guzheng within contemporary communities. As a guzheng performer and lifelong learner, she continues to seek opportunities to connect with musicians, artists, educators, researchers, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
Her performances with various ensembles have been presented at cultural festivals, community events, educational programs, and collaborative artistic initiatives across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. Through these experiences, Ada shares the distinctive voice of the guzheng while learning from different musical traditions, cultural perspectives, and creative practices.
In addition to performance, Ada enjoys sharing her love of Chinese music through educational presentations and community engagement. Through experiences with elementary school students, youth groups, and community audiences, she continues to explore ways of making traditional Chinese music accessible, engaging, and meaningful for young learners.
Ada values opportunities to learn alongside others and hopes to continue developing educational programs that inspire curiosity, creativity, and cultural appreciation through music.
Her work is guided by a belief that music is both an artistic practice and a lifelong learning journey. Through collaboration, performance, research, and cultural exchange, she continues to explore how music can foster curiosity, dialogue, understanding, and meaningful human connection.
