Ada's musical journey began at a young age through piano, where she discovered the joy of music and the curiosity to keep learning. As life led her into a career in research and healthcare, music remained a quiet companion until she later found a deep passion for the guzheng. Rediscovering music through this remarkable instrument inspired a new chapter of lifelong learning, artistic exploration, and cultural connection.
Today, Ada continues to study the guzheng while exploring how music can bring people together across cultures and communities. Drawing inspiration from both Eastern and Western musical traditions, she values music not only as an art form, but also as a way to build understanding, creativity, and meaningful human connection.
Alongside her musical journey, Ada maintains a strong interest in the relationship between music, cognition, emotion, and wellbeing. Her background in research and healthcare continues to shape her curiosity about how music influences individuals, communities, and the ways we connect with one another.
At the heart of Da21Strings Co-Lab is a simple belief: learning never ends. Through performances, community engagement, cultural exchange, and creative collaborations, Ada hopes to continue learning alongside musicians, educators, researchers, artists, and communities from diverse backgrounds. Every new encounter is an opportunity to listen, to learn, and to share the joy of music together.
Active Engagements
Through Da21Strings Co-Lab, Ada shares her love of music through performance, education, and community engagement while continuing to explore new opportunities for cultural exchange and creative collaboration. Guided by curiosity and a passion for lifelong learning, she welcomes opportunities to connect with musicians, artists, educators, researchers, and communities from diverse backgrounds, believing that every musical encounter offers a chance to learn and grow together.
Her performances with various ensembles have been presented at cultural festivals, community events, and educational programs across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. Through these experiences, Ada enjoys sharing the distinctive voice of the guzheng while remaining open to learning from different musical traditions, cultural perspectives, and artistic practices.
In addition to performance, Ada enjoys introducing Chinese music through educational presentations and community engagement. Through opportunities to work with elementary school students, youth groups, and community audiences, she continues to explore ways of making traditional Chinese music accessible, engaging, and meaningful for learners of all ages.
Believing that learning is a shared journey, Ada hopes to continue creating educational experiences and collaborative projects that inspire curiosity, creativity, cultural appreciation, and meaningful human connection through music.
